Finding somewhere late night to eat in the South Bay is not always easy. Left Bank in Menlo Park is always a good after-9 pm dinner option (in Silicon Valley, 9 pm is considered late night). The bar also offers happy hour noshing from 9 pm until closing every day of the week.
We started off with a Rye Manhattan and a too sweet French 77 Cocktail:
The Pissaladière, a Provençal version of a thin crust pizza, was topped with roasted heirloom tomatoes, basil and salty anchovies that paired well with beer:
The Mousse de foie de canard (duck liver mousse) was studded with summer truffles and served with mustard, cornichons and toasted baguette slices:
The fries served with the Steak Frites were addictively crispy. The nicely charred natural skirt steak served with Béarnaise sauce was the perfect late night entrée:
Loved your comments and the fact that you gave the South Bay a little love!
In the name of full disclosure, I do PR work for Left Bank (and 20 other Bay area restaurants).
Thanks Tom. If there’s a bar and good food, we’re bound to hit another one (or more) of the other restaurants you work for.
