A Mid-day Meal at Madera

It’s hot in the San Francisco Bay Area with temperatures clocking in at 95F degrees. This was a great summer afternoon to eat at the patio lounge of the Michelin-starred Madera in Menlo Park.

We started with summery cocktails created by their Mixology Lab: the White Peach Sangria and the San Francisco Cocktail (No. 209 Gin, lemon juice, a hint of absinthe and orange bitters):

A bottle of the Northern Rhone 2009 Chapoutier Marsanne “Petite Ruche,” Crozes Hermitage served as our hot summer beverage to drink with the spicy rock shrimp tempura served over red cabbage slaw:

We also ordered the Niman Ranch sliders with pesto aoli and french fries:

The rolling hills view at the Madera restaurant in the Rosewood Sand Hill Hotel made us feel like we were somewhere farther away than Silicon Valley.
